Ummmm, do we suck that bad?

December 9, 2007

I’m not going to write on the historical loss to ECU.

It’s mid-Sunday afternoon.
I see Mario Williams had a sack for a 13 yard loss in Houston’s win over Tampa Bay.
I can’t see the Chargers game up here in NY, but Rivers just threw a TD to tie the game under 10 seconds.
Torry Holt had 8 catches for 90 yards.
John McCargo had 1 tackle and 2 assists for Buffalo.

Anyways, I hope everyone is enjoying Sunday afternoon.

Where are they now? Jay Davis

December 6, 2007

Jay Davis is currently the quarterbacks coach at Grambling State University. He suffered by being compared to P. Rivers, I think we all wish we woulda had Jay this year! We’d definitely be bowling.

Good thing he didn’t choose baseball

Because he’d have at least 2 strikes right? Of course I’m talking about the pride of NC State, Koren Robinson!! No? Sorry, I meant thorn. Koren posted awesome number playing WR at NC State, was picked #9 overall by Seattle in the NFL draft, then had some great years at Seattle. In just his second NFL season he had 78 receptions for 1240 yards and 5 TDs.

Somewhere during his stay at Seattle he got a DUI, I just can’t remember when. I do remember he was on probation by the NFL, and then last August this headline popped up, “Vikings’ Robinson charged with DWI, felony fleeing”. Not good.

Well, now signed by the Green Bay Packers, Koren was reinstated today by commish Roger Goodell. Word is, Koren will be suitd up Sunday, and might see some time on the field. I hope this is another Josh Hamilton like story, and not a Ricky Williams one.

Like Tom Cruise said in A Few Good Men

“And the hits just keep on comin’…”

Was watching (well, listening) to NFL Countdown on ESPN this afternoon. Manny Lawson out for the season with the one injury he can’t afford, a knee injury. At least he has fellow Pack alum Marcus Hudson to help him through it in San Fran.

Just got around to thumbing through the most recent Sports Illustrated.
Page 21, “Who’s Hot, Who’s Not”. Mario Williams is Hot, that’s who.

Also note, on what seems to be page 28 (seems like it’s rare to see an actual page number anymore), a nice write up on Greensboro native John Isner. Remember, when I told you to watch the US Open a few weeks ago? That’s him.

T.A. = Trouble Anytime

September 12, 2007

From ‘The Stanly News and Press‘:

Monday officers with the Albemarle Police Department (APD) arrested Tristan Akeen “T.A.” Mclendon, 23, of Grigg Street, Albemarle, at the intersection of 807 Summit Ave. and Wall Street.
Mclendon, known by most for his stand-out performances as a running back for Albemarle High School and N.C. State University, faces multiple charges.
He’s charged with possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, driving with license revoked and maintaining a vehicle for drugs.

Thanks to Evan Roberts for the heads up.

Here’s an article I did on TA trying out for the new football league a few months ago.
