When hate overrides logic

March 28, 2008

We are NC State fans, Wolfpack Nation, the good ol’ boys, and we HATE CAROLINA.

I think more than that though, we hate Carolina fans. Those ungrateful, arrogant pricks take any and every opportunity to open their face holes and vomit some line their parents taught them or they overheard at Wal-Mart while picking up some gear on clearance.
If we take an objective look at the recent state of, well, State, I think we should reevaluate our enemies. When it comes to loathing a team and fan base the past 5 years, it is a toss up between Duke and Maryland. Between Duke’s dumb luck and Maryland’s inmates fans, no one has caused us more misery on the hardwood or football field respectively.

This isn’t really even my point though, my point is this: Even though we hate them, we should quietly cheer UNC success in the NCAA Tournament. They are the ONLY remaining ACC team, do we really want the conference to have NO TEAMS in the Elite Eight? Final Four? After the dismal season we had as a conference, it would almost surely knock us down a rung on the dominance ladder of recent history. Carolina losing does not benefit us in any way right now. For the greater good, it makes no sense to wish UNC to fail at this point.

Washington Slime (Updated @ 1500hrs)

February 9, 2008

I read a pretty ridiculous and biased post this morning on the Washington Times web site. My views are biased, but they are on a site that makes notice of any bias I might show. You would assume an article under the jurisdiction of “Washington Times” would be neutral. Here is that article in it’s entirety (fair and balanced!):

It’s always amusing to me how much ACC football coaches try to hype their league into something far, far greater than it is.

Look at all those bowl teams! Look at all those programs who have contended for division titles! Anybody can beat anybody! Blah, blah, blah. (more…)

Yahoo! gets this one right, not ESPN

December 15, 2007

So, I just woke up. Whereas when I was a child, my dad and I would pour through the News & Observer on Saturday mornings (Sports section, used cars, yard sales, the funnies, you know, back when they were actually funny!), alas, I am now part of the age of the Internet. So, I now click on my bookmarks in my Firefox toolbar on Saturday mornings.

Well, after watching the App State game last night (and what a terrific game it was!) I headed to my morning paper to see what they had to say. First I head to ESPN…

Good news for ACC

December 4, 2007

Clemson head coach Tommy Bowden signed an extension today, squashing rumors of being courted by Arkansas. I think this is great news for the ACC who can use stability at a hallmark program like Clemson.

Prepare for psuedo-apathy State fans

November 11, 2007

I don’t even know of it’s a real word, probably not. But we all know what I’m talking about. When you go into work tomorrow, UNC fans will go about it like just another day. Finally, you have an awkward run in at the coffee pot, walking to the restroom, returning from lunch in the parking lot, so you bring up THE GAME. Their response? I can almost guarantee you it will be, “Yeah, I didn’t really watch. Did you win? Oh yeah? Hmmm. Yeah, I’m just waiting for basketball season to begin.”

It’s already started moron. But back to the point, don’t expect any Carowhina fans to admit defeat, or at least that they care about it. That is what makes Carowhina fans so damn annoying. If they win, we get the 3rd degree on how dominate UNC is over State, and they posture themselves as die-hard football fans. We win, and well, you’ll see… psuedo-apathy. Yeah, I think I made it up, but if it were a word, it would literally mean “false lack of interest”.

So to all Carowhina fans, we owned you Saturday. Scoreboard. Have fun watching us go Bowl-ing this winter. And be careful what you wish for,  you need not be so cavalier about playing State in basketball this season, or any other season in the foreseeable future.

Ok, done. Thanks for enduring my rant.

The day of days for NCSU football

November 10, 2007

Honestly, does any other game matter? NO.

NC State versus Univ of NC at Chapel Hill (UNC to non ACC fans)

Will we dislike Tom O’Brien if he loses? I won’t, because in his first year, he understands the importance of a rivalry, and knows that this is the most important game to the majority of State fans.

Will he go up a level in stature if he wins, most definitely.

It’s early for me, I may not be making any sense.  I’m going to the local sports bar here in Ithaca, NY to watch the game. And remember State fans who attend the game, be civil, be respectable to our enemy. Above all we are all North Carolinians, well mostly. Yell at them, boo them, but don’t be ECU fans.
